A little bit about me

My name is Mindy and I love kids. I babysat for one family weekly throughout my four years in high school. Joey was 2 and Kayla was 4. In the second year, I started providing care for a newborn baby girl cousin related due to the mothers being sisters. So I have plenty of experience with changing diapers and helping with disposable briefs and potty training. I have a nephew who is 13 and is on the Autism spectrum. I have been involved with his care since birth up to the present day. I've learned a lot from him. Examples would be: how to face challenging situations outside of the home, within groups and in public. I've learned that simplicity works best and that we can have fun in almost any environment. I'm learning to communicate calmly, directly and creatively in order to keep the child's focus active. I immediately take action when signs of meltdown, tantrums or difficult emotions develop, especially in unfamiliar places. Safety of all concerned comes first and every day is new.
