A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Moira. I recently moved back to PA from NC to be closer to family and friends. I have 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the pharmaceutical industry. In college, I served as an English Language Teacher/Camp Counselor for three summers [phone number hidden]), where I planned and implemented a summer camp program for extended stay campers (ages 5 to 17) that promoted YMCA character values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. I taught conversational English to Spanish speaking campers while facilitating exercises in order to build life skills. In high school, I taught CCD to children at St. John Neumann Catholic Church during which I was responsible for lesson planning, creating activities that emphasized the main points from what we had learned, and preparing them to recive the sacraments. I also traveled to Haiti twice during which I worked in a baby orphanage and orphanage for children with special needs.

I was responsible for lesson planning, creating activities that highlighted the main point or character value of the week, while preparing the children to receive the Sacraments. I also went on two mission trips to Haiti, where I worked in a baby orphanage and a special needs orphanage.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outdoors with children doing absolutely anything because my entire childhood was spent outside. I love introducing kids to sports, riding bikes, coloring with chalk, blowing bubbles, or just going on a nature walk. I also love arts and crafts that allow children to express their creativity and explore more about themselves and what it is that they enjoy. I am also a big proponent of reading every day and helping them work through any school assignments. One of my favorite activities with kids is to put on some age appropriate music and dance like no one is watching.

The health and well-being of the child: mentally, physically, and emotionally.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with orphans suffering from emotipnal trauma and children in a special needs orphanage that had both mental and physical defects that required us to follow detailed physical therapy plans in addition to behavior modification plans based on their cognitive abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most rewarding moments to me as a caregiver are watching a child master a skill they were uncappable of performing before and seeing the light that radiates from their face and the confidence they exude going forward.
