The sweetest thing that's ever happened to me took place when I worked for a daycare, taking care of one-year-olds. One of them particularly favored me and always sat on my lap and tugged on my hair. Every day, I would put him down for his nap and I soon began to sing him to sleep (he was a rambunctious kid and it took a while for him to fall asleep).

Anyway, one day I was singing and he was staring up at me with big blue eyes. And then... he put his two tiny fists together, which is sign language for 'more'. He learned how to do it earlier in the day. And he was telling me in the only way that he knew how, that he wanted 'more'.

It’s moments like this that I am truly grateful for working in the childcare field.
