A little bit about me

My name is Mónica, and I’m from Colombia. I’ve been living in the United States for three years and have trained as a teacher and teacher assistant. I have experience working in two daycares, where I cared for, observed, and taught children aged 6 months to 5 years. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with the Montessori method, which allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of child-centered learning. Throughout my career, I have honed my skills to support children’s overall development, fostering activities that enhance their learning as well as their social, emotional, and motor skills, while adapting to the unique needs of each child.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a Teacher Assistant at Nueva Generación Montessori Pre-School for a year and a half, caring for infants and children up to four years old. Currently, I work as a Teacher with children aged three to four years.

My qualifications include completing the 45-hour DCF training, a micro-credential in language and development for infants and toddlers from the University of Florida, and a course on growth and development in preschool-aged children from the same university. I hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification until 2025 and have completed multiple DCF courses, including topics such as safe sleep practices, nutrition, and general childcare. My combined experience and training enable me to create engaging, developmentally appropriate environments that foster learning and holistic development for young children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy teaching children and engaging with them through play. I love teaching them about everyday life skills, motivating them to stay active with exercises appropriate for their age, and introducing them to healthy eating habits. I focus on creating fun and educational activities, including games that stimulate their learning and creativity while ensuring they have fun. I also enjoy walking with the children, keeping them engaged, and fostering an environment where they can both learn and enjoy themselves.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important aspect of being a nanny is ensuring that parents feel confident and at ease, knowing their children are safe and in good hands. It's essential to provide a secure and protective environment for the children while also fostering a sense of trust and comfort between them and their caregiver.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments with children are when, after playing, teaching, or having fun together, they come up to me and give me a hug. Those moments are incredibly rewarding because they show me that they enjoyed our time together, feel happy with me, and trust and feel comfortable in my care.
