I was a nanny for 5 years then a counselor for the ymca, so I was in charge of running and carrying out pre-planned programs. I was also a summer counselor with my local church. I also come from a large family, as 1 of 5 kids. my mother also ran a at home licensed daycare.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Art. I love creating educational art projects with kids. I think children have an incredible imagination that is amazing to see through art.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a solid example, and creating a nurturing and loving environment. While I think discipline and being never changing for kids is important, I think empathy plays an equally important role. As well as remembering this is their first time living so they'll have questions and be curious, and it's important to foster and explore that.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a minimal experience with special needs kids, I've worked with a handful previously, however I was not their main care provider. I mainly offered a helping hand to their aids or helped in a group setting.
The most important part about being a nanny...
my favorite nanny moment, is probably anytime a kids comes up to me and asks me the most ridiculous questions. I find them hilarious and see them be curious about stuff is truly amazing.
