The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is building a safe, trusting, and nurturing relationship with both the child and the family. It’s not just about supervising it’s about supporting a child’s emotional, social, and developmental growth while being a reliable partner to the parents. A great nanny shows up with patience, consistency, and genuine care, creating an environment where children feel secure, valued, and inspired to learn and explore.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cares for 2 special needs children. One who had to use a gtube to be fed, & the other autistic :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my most memorable moments as a nanny happened while I was baking cookies with two young siblings I cared for. What started as a simple afternoon activity quickly turned into a full business venture in their eyes. After mixing dough, sneaking chocolate chips, and covering the kitchen in flour, one of them proudly declared that we should open a cookie store with him as the boss, of course.
A few minutes later, they’d created a hand-lettered “Cookies for Sale” sign and set up a table outside, ready to sell our homemade treats to neighbors passing by. The joy and excitement on their faces when they made their first “sale” was unforgettable. It reminded me just how creative, bold, and full of heart children are when they feel supported and encouraged.
Moments like that are why I truly love being a nanny. I don’t just supervise, I guide, inspire, and help kids turn everyday moments into meaningful memories.
