More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have extensive experience caring for children, beginning in my teen years as a weekend babysitter, where I became highly sought-after by families. In high school, I worked as a childcare nanny, picking up and caring for children after school, and in my early 20s, I was a live-in nanny. I also homeschooled my five children, creating a structured and nurturing environment to support their growth, and worked for two years in a childcare facility, gaining hands-on experience with infants, toddlers (18 months–2 years), and pre-K children. Additionally, I spent nearly a decade in a reading instruction program, assessing children’s reading levels and guiding their educational progress, and I was also a reading tutor, teaching young children to read.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading with children, nurturing a love of reading, the cornerstone of all learning, and exploring hands-on activities like crafts, science experiments, and educational games. I delight in outdoor play, from walks to park time and active games, and enjoy music, imaginative play, and age-appropriate cooking or baking to spark creativity, confidence, and life skills. Most importantly, I strive to create experiences that are joyful, gentle, and nurturing, providing a warm and attentive presence so children feel truly seen, supported, and cared for, even when their parents are not present.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is providing steady, dependable care so parents know their children are safe, fed, rested, and supported. It’s not just about routines—it’s also about guiding children with patience, stepping in to comfort or encourage, and helping siblings work through disagreements so everyone feels heard and respected. By being present in those everyday moments, from meals to play to problem-solving, I create an environment where children feel secure, confident, and cared for, and parents can trust their family is in good hands.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience caring for children with unique needs and differences. I’ve worked with many personalities and learning styles and have learned to adapt with patience, empathy, and creativity. My stepson, on the higher end of the spectrum, spent summers with us. Caring for him taught me to see beyond limitations and approach children with tenderness and understanding. I saw that coming to him in different ways than others, I could help him try new things, building confidence; for example, encouraging him to make healthier choices he had resisted. These experiences showed me how valuable it is to see each child as an individual and create opportunities where they feel safe, capable, and supported, while helping them explore their potential. During my decade with the reading company, I assessed students with learning differences; including ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and Down syndrome; and guided them in developing reading skills to reach appropriate levels and become confident readers.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was helping a 4-year-old girl discover the joy of reading for the first time. I had been working with her on letter recognition and simple words, and the moment she read her first full sentence aloud, her face lit up with pride and excitement. Seeing that spark — her confidence grow and curiosity bloom — reminded me why I love working with children. Moments like that, when a child feels capable, encouraged, and truly seen, are what make caregiving so rewarding.
