Although I have not had direct experience working with children with disabilities, I have family members who were born with them. During my visits, I make an effort to engage in conversations and ensure that they feel acknowledged and valued. For the most part, they express love and joy when I arrive. Additionally, during my tenure as a vaccine nurse, I had the opportunity to administer vaccines to children with disabilities. I found that effective communication and providing clear explanations were crucial in helping them understand the process and trust me to administer the vaccine. I firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their abilities, can be taught and supported. I am open to learning and working with children with disabilities.

As the children begin to develop trust in me and express their affection through gestures such as hugs or simply being delighted to see me, I experience a profound sense of fulfillment during my time at the after-school program. Among the students, there were a few who genuinely cherished me. Upon seeing me, they would greet me with a warm “Hello, Miss Nancy” and promptly rush over to embrace me with a hearty hug, given the nature of our school setting. Our hugging protocol was brief, lasting only three seconds, but it held immense significance for me. This is one of the most cherished aspects of my work with children.
