A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Nasra. I am the second oldest of seven. Naturally, I’ve taken care of almost all of siblings growing up. I have an affinity for spending time with bright, young, and curious little individuals :). I often find myself consistently combining my two other positions, working as a CNA and a tutor, when caring for kids. The impact detail-oriented attention and adult patience can have on shaping the mind of a young learner is uniquely unbelievable. I am a knowledge seeker and seek to learn at least as much as I can teach. With that said, I have a ton of energetic-joy and find that joy inspires joy: and kids are the natural source of it! Being a nurse assistant, however, I also understand the stress and emotional energy required to properly care for a human being, even in their most stubborn stages of life. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I work at a geriatric care facility, but I come home to my energetic, adorable younger siblings every day. I adore providing for them in any way I can and adding to their sense of happiness in any way I can. My passion to help humans in all stages of life attain a sense of belongingness and happiness is something I am grateful to have.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Often times, I take my younger siblings out to the park, movies, restaurants, and, occasionally, to the YMCA for swimming lessons. When we are all home, they help me bake, feed our two giant Flemish rabbits, and pick a good movie. We usually do a story or two before bed as well. They love having me read to them every night!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most integral aspect of being a caregiver, especially one providing for children, is being passionate. In my experience, passion is the ultimate producer of not just genuine interest, but the center of delivering heart-centered care. Children are the among the most vulnerable of minds and deserve to be treated with the utmost passion and respect.

My experience with special needs children...

When the world was in session and traveling was ideal, I visited my grandmother in Kenya, Africa often. During that time, I volunteered to teach and help in the local orphanages. While I was there, I came across many children in all stages of health and used my CNA training, general education, and knowledge to help care for them, as I work with adults with similar conditions. I think it is vital for every caregiver to have a working knowledge of the emotional, mental, and physical requirements of caring for a special needs individual. I am always humbled to be a part of that fragile and beautiful process.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments with the kids is answering their hysterically philosophical questions. Often times, we learn to find the answers together. Other times, they force me to apply my biology theories and explain it to them in a simplified manner. Either way, we all learn and more importantly, they learn that stupid questions don’t exist. Fostering curiosity in a young mind is a beautiful investment in their future. It’s also very adorable! :)
