A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Natalie. I love working with kids of all ages, I am a high school student who is home schooled. I am 17 years old, and though I may be young I have experience of four years nannying, working with infants, toddlers, young children, multiples (twins), etc. I am friendly, respectful, responsible, never late, always on time, prompt, great with communication. I am amazing with kids, learning them quickly, adapting to their each specific needs. I love to be very hands on, doing sensory skills, fine motor skills, exploring outdoors, etc. I am great at keeping routines, and rhythms as it helps each child develop, I am extremely organized, creative, patient, kind, supportive, and so much more. I always clean up after whatever we do, there’s no excuse you should ever have to come home to a mess after someone watching your kid(s). Even though I’m young, I have so much experience in many different aspects, I am the eldest of six children, and again have nannied for four years.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters most to me as a nanny is communication, not only with the child but with the parent(s). Patience, staying calm in stressful moments, and being an example of pro the child. Being respectful, I’m watching your child in your home, so there is no room for being disrespectful. Being on time, it’s time you’re paying me for, so I will be there exactly when you asked me to be or what time we have agreed upon. Connection, being new in your child’s life can be scary to the child, I’m a stranger coming to care for your child, so making those instant connections make your child feel comfortable, at peace, and comforted. Obeying, any home rules, rules for your children, etc. I will be obeying whether big or small all rules matter. Having fun, letting your child be a child, letting them be creative, letting them “make decisions” for example “would you like an apple or an orange” very simple decisions, but making it fun.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with sensory disorders. I understand the struggle of what they go through and the struggle the parents or providers go through. I have tips and tricks to understand and communicate with the child and help engage their needs. I understand certain activities they may need or certain care that they may need. I have experience as well in colic and/or reflux children (most common in infants), I understand their needs and certain things that they may need specifiy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment is hard to choose, I don’t know that I can pick just a certain one. I love being a nanny and one day cannot wait to be a mother to my own children. I love each moment I get with each child, growing that relationship, becoming a part of the child’s life, having that bond, and connection is worth it all. One of my favorite moments… a little girl I watched who was age 2, loved going to the park but there was this one bigger slide she would always try to do and then get nervous and back down, but then she would be defeated. So ever time we went to that park I would encourage her that it’s ok, that she is brave no matter what, and she can always do the little slide. With some encouragement I offered if she would want to go down the slide with me, and she did! For the first time she did it and then had the courage to try herself while I caught her at the bottom. It’s moments like those that make my day!
