I used to assist my daughter's Girl scout troop when she was younger. I like teaching them about nature, gardening, art, playing board or card games, and bringing children swimming as I grew up in Hawaii and taught my own children how to swim.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked as a long term substitute in two elementary schools filling in for 3rd grade and a reading specialist. I also substituted in various schools throughout Lincoln, filling in for Sped and SE positions. My nephew is autistic and my son has ADHD, and I know the importance of using patience and clear direct instructions with children of special needs. I have also learned how to accommodate activities for children that have special needs and to be prepared and equipped ahead of time for any situation that may occur.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had a chance to let the children have some water fun during the summer. Many parents prefer not to deal with the mess, but I don't shy away from that. It makes the kids so joyful and happy! They need someone that is willing to let them experience their surroundings in a safe fun manner.
