More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've worked in early childhood education for about 3 ½ years, teaching and taking care of children from 14 months to 6 years, plus children from 7 to 12 years during summer.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love telling stories and singing songs, encouraging children to sing along or to help tell the story with me.

I love to let the child's imagination lead the way when we play, taking the role of a guide rather than controlling how we play.

Imaginative play and board/card games are some of my favorite activities, because they get the mind working- they help develop pattern recognition, communication, understanding structure, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of working with children, no matter the job, is always keeping the children safe. The second is making them feel safe and loved. After that, education is very important to me. Everything is a learning opportunity. This can look like asking a toddler questions about the ball they're holding, or letting a 4-year-old set the table (with supervision of course).

My experience with special needs children...

While working in preschools over the past three years, I've encountered many special needs children, whether the needs are mental, physical, dietary, or any combination of the three.

I don't have any kind of special training, but through my experience I've learned ways to help children who are having emotional meltdowns, who need help walking, who are non-verbal, and many other kinds of needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don't have any experience nannying, but my favorite moments while working with children, no matter the age, is always when I'm talking to them and they say something funny and out of pocket, or when I see them accomplish something by themselves, that they used to need help for. Seeing that look in their eyes when they do something for the first time never gets old.
