One of the most important part of being a nanny is giving the child the time to learn at their own pace. Being patient to let them explain their feelings. To teach them how to express themselves to the fullest of their needs.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a couple of younger cousin who are on the spectrum of autism and with that being said, I was taught how to be patient and understanding to what the child wants without really saying it. Not only that but giving them space and time to explain their feelings and needs.

I took my younger cousin on a cousins date, and she introduced me to the science center in Greensboro. She wanted to do the ropes course and when we got to some of the difficult ones she started to doubt herself. Without a second thought I told her it’s okay if she doing want to do but also I right behind her and won’t let anything happen to her and she got it. While everyone was cheering her on and encouraging her. She finally made the decision to go across and did it gracefully. Watching her get over a fear and seeing her smile and say “oh that was hard” made my day.

I also have worked at a daycare and have watched more than 4 kids by myself! I know how to prepare snacks and lunch and any kind of meals as well! To create a lighthearted environment for the kids, I normally will put on music for them and will come up with creative games to play or crafts to make!
