I worked with youth-at-risk for many years, stayed home once I started having kids, and began teaching when my baby started preschool. I have taught preschool for 14 years and have coached 3rd-5th grade girls' basketball. I am ready to step out of the classroom, but I still want to continue working and caring for children. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to play inside or outside.
I enjoy walking, swimming, playing at the park, and playing with any type of ball. I love teaching different types of games ( Mr. Fox, what time is it?, hide and seek, nature scavenger hunts...) Indoors, I enjoy reading, arts and crafts, play-doh, sensory bins, dramatic play, and teaching letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. I like downtime as well when needed.

To provide the best care for the child/children you are caring for.
To provide a fun and safe environment for each child.
I feel the child comes first, then, if needed, the other requests by the family will follow.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a niece with special needs who is non-verbal with other physical needs.
I have worked with a little bit with children diagnosed with autism.
I have worked with children with extreme anxiety or speech delays.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have never been a nanny, but I have done child care for many people throughout the years.
I have taught preschool for 14 years. My favorite part of teaching is watching how much a 3-year-old can grow in 9 months. They are so completely honest and say the craziest things. I could write a book of all the hilarious comments I heard daily.
