Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I had to take care of my own 3 siblings growing up. Cleaning the house and making them meals. Then I babysat a bunch of other kids. A lil boy for a year potty training him. The other family was two girls and a boy all young. One of the girls was a newborn. I took care of them for 2 years. Kids always love me.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Going to playgrounds or pools just to have the kids get their exercise and fun for the day. I like to do whatever they like. If they enjoy coloring, I usually bring new coloring books for them and we color together. If they like dinosaurs, cars, Barbie's, seashells, etc. I just bring some over and see the biggest smile on their face. Then we play or watch some TV. I like to do educational games and tv shows.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Keeping the family safe and clean while having them gain knowledge whenever possible. Make sure they have food and proper clothes. I always make sure they get their exercise not just for their body but for their mind too. Other than their health, their education is important as well. Also, for them to have fun is important. If that means a board game, tv, or a trip to the park count me in!
My experience with special needs children...
I haven't had any but I am very patient and open minded.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When the kids don't want me to leave. It makes me sad to leave but when I come back they run to me smiling and sometimes make things for me. The lil boy I watched drew pictures for me whenever I came to see him.
