My experience with special needs children...
I currently am employed with the school district and frequently work with and support children with various disabilities (from grades TK through eight grade) in implementing their Individual Education Plans. I am happy to meet children where they are at, which includes communicating with children in the way that works best for them (for example, I have experience working and communicating with children who use an AAC device to communicate). Additionally, I am CPI certified and understand the importance of de-escalation to support emotional regulation in children who at times have difficulty maintaining a safe body.
