A little bit about me

I have a natural tendency to nurture, motivate, and I have no issue adapting my approaches to whatever a specific child needs! I’ve spent the 5 past (pre-covid) summers caring for foster youth of all ages, backgrounds, and with varied special needs and childcare is honestly a genuine passion of mine. I come from a big family myself and being one of the eldest I have an innate tendency to truly protect and deeply care for every child I have the pleasure of knowing in my career. It’s not just a job for me, I’m aware of my impact on a child’s growth simply by being in their life. That’s why I do my best to ensure all of the things I influence children to do will carry them further in life and help them bloom into the passionate and philanthropic young adults this world needs more of. I hope I can bring my love for kids & childcare skills to your home! PS will provide reference info directly to you if requested

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a summer camp counselor at a camp intended for foster youth (but youth from all backgrounds attended as well). There, I cared for 8 kids a week (and sometimes up to 30 depending on the activities I facilitated) with different special needs, backgrounds, and ages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Fingerpainting, making slime, molding clay, playing ninja, playing dress up, playing concentration, solving puzzles, coloring, frisbee, soccer, painting nails, honestly anything they like to do! I’ve also loved to read since I was a child and though lots of children find reading boring I love to find books that spark a desire to read in the kids I care for. It’s all about finding genres and writing styles that appeal best to them, everyone doesn’t experience books the same way. I’ve proudly managed to turn ten children into avid readers and I’m hoping to have the opportunity to turn even more

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is actually loving kids. I’ve met a lot of childcare workers that are only in it for the money or to fulfill whatever weird superiority complex they have and it always ends in the children they care for suffering in some way, shape, or form. The entire reason I am a nanny is because of the kids, sure a paycheck comes along with that but that shouldn’t be your sole motivation. I view being a nanny as stepping into someone else’s life, into a kid’s childhood memories. I want to make a good lasting impression that will positively alter the type of person that child will grow into. And I view that as a huge privilege, not to be taken advantage of or looked over. I’m helping, in my own small way, create a better future by assisting parents in nurturing & loving their child and that is one of the most beautiful positions anyone could have in this Earth, no exaggeration.

My experience with special needs children...

When I was a teenager I often cared for a family friend’s son who was on the autism spectrum. I also have experience with children diagnosed with anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, diabetes, anger management issues, ADD/ADHD, and children with anti-social tendencies.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was taking care of a 4 year old boy with very picky eating habits. I was in charge of making most of his meals, as his parents were often at work/too busy to do so. The very first meal I made him he instantly refused. I went through a ridiculous amount of recipes trying to figure what I could feed him that would make him happy. His parents left no note about this and when I asked for ideas they weren’t able to give me any- they had been struggling getting him to eat things themselves. Ten tries later I ended up just cutting up various fruit and giving it to him along with some cheeses and a little bit of peanut butter on the side. He loved it! As I continued working with him, i realized that he was unintentionally vegetarian! The foods he vehemently denied all had meat in them! He had a deep love for animals so this didn’t come at too much of a surprise to me. But from then on, I altered my menu for him. I just thought it was so hilarious that a 4 year old decided to be a vegetarian!
