The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, peaceful, environment that adheres to the parent's routine and guidelines for the child. It is most important to me that I am enforcing the same routine/rules as the parents. This helps maintain a consistent, peaceful environment for the child and help the parents keep their rhythm and ease of mind. Safety and helping the child's development with routine and age appropriate activity is my upmost priority
My experience with special needs children...
During my time teaching with Richmond Public schools, I Did spend one full year as the main teacher in an intensive support classroom. This classroom had 7 children, different ages, with different special needs surrounding autism and ADHD. Each child had an individualized education plan to help mold learning for them. Through this, I did develop strategies to help special needs children emotionally regulate, redirect, and learn curriculum. While I am not specifically trained, I Do have experience
The most important part about being a nanny...
When nannying my friend's two boys, my favorite moment was helping them grow and learn while also being able to be a safe person for them. As cliche as it sounds, it was beautiful to remember playing hide and seek with him at two to helping him read at 5. Secondly, I love doing crafts with the children to share and create memories for the parents as well.
