More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at multiple summer camps as a day and overnight counsellor with 6 to 16 year olds. I worked as a dance teacher with many age groups, including as young as 3 year olds. I also worked in a daycare as an educator with 2 to 4 year olds.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I have lots of experience from summer camp counselling in outdoor activities with children. I also love arts and crafts. As well, I love to teach and coach children in sports and everyday activities (cooking, playing, etc).
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is coaching and teaching children how to cope with life. I think as an educator of a child we must help them learn how to operate in our society. This means both teaching them skills (such as how to play) but more importantly how to cope and regulate their emotions. Every child can be emotional but a successful child is one that can quickly regulate themselves and has support from those around them to do just that.
My experience with special needs children...
I have personal experience working with special needs children who are a part of my own family. I as well have experience with a variety of mental health issues, behavioural issues and special needs children in the summer camp (and especially overnight summer camp) settings.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I will always cherish moments when children I have worked with say to me they hope to be like me when they grow up. My response is always "thank you, did you know you can even be better? You can be anything you want if you just try hard, what do you want to be?"
