A little bit about me

I am a kind, energetic, and creative person who loves working with kids. I have experience as a substitute teacher working with kids K-8th. This position has involved leading the class in lessons, coming up with craft ideas, working with kids one on one, problem solving, and managing a classroom. During my time as a substitute, I have worked in SPED classrooms and as a shadow for kids with disabilities. I have also babysat for friends and family members over the years. I always make sure to actively engage with the kids, whether that means playing make believe with them, coming up with a craft project, reading to them, etc. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and have taken a course on human growth and development, which included a lot of focus on the milestones and challenges of early and middle childhood. I am happy to help with housework, pet care, meal prep, & running errands.

The most important thing about working with kids is being kind, compassionate, and willing to engage with their interests. Actively playing with and listening to children makes such a huge difference.

My experience with special needs children...

In my experience as a substitute teacher, I have subbed for TAs in SPED classrooms and for shadows who work one on one with kids with disabilities. These roles have involved working with kids on the spectrum, kids with ADHD, and kids who are nonverbal or have cognitive disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Recently, one of the kids in a class I subbed for drew a picture of me that she gave to me at the end of the day. Another day, a different kid made me a cake out of play-doh. On a different day, a kid I was working with as a shadow told me I was his best friend. These moments are so heartwarming and they make me feel like I'm making an impact.
