A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Raven and I am a 23 year old who loves working with kids. Since I was 15 years old, I have been tutoring, babysitting and working at camps with the youth. I can work in a fast or slow setting and, I can also handle all energy levels. Along with my experience with the youth, I have also been a Resident Assistant on a college campus for 3 years. I like to say that this requires me to be a nanny (or den mother) to college students. This job has allowed me to improve my critical thinking and creative skills. My hobbies include playing the guitar, doing calligraphy, and reading. I just finished working at a summer/fall camp In northern Wisconsin as a nanny to 2 boys aged 8 months and 3 years old (and on occasion, I nannies a 7 year old girl). I now intend on finding a lovely family in the Chicago area to nanny for from Jan-May.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Aside from nannying, I’ve also worked as a tutor for college students and kids, usually for Mathematics. I’ve also worked for numerous camps for kids ranging from Cheerleading camp, football camp, early talent search, migrant middle schoolers and theater summer camp. The summer of 2019, I also had the amazing opportunity to work at the University of Pennsylvania for the summer discovery program where I was in charge of a group of teenagers (14-17 years old) taking them to classes and different activities in and outside of Philadelphia.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My kids that I recently nannied introduced me to magnet tiles so I really enjoy playing with those or any activity where we can build things and use our imagination. I also like going outside and biking/walking with the kids. During warmer weather, I also enjoy swimming and paddle boarding with the children I watch.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny for me is having that connection with the kids where they respect you enough to listen to you but also see you as part of the family and can have fun with you. I also think it’s important to have that connection for the entire family as well

My experience with special needs children...

I have never independently cared for children with special needs but I am completely open to learning and working with them

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment so far would be with the little 3 year old I nannied for while at a camp. I was carrying him to the campfire we occasionally have here on the campsite and he randomly looked up at me and said “I love you Raven”. That was indeed his SWEETEST moment because I didn’t say it first.
