A little bit about me

For over seven years, I have been a leader and guide to children in my care. In 2020, I made the decision to transition from working in a childcare center to private, family-based care as a nanny. It has been a great joy for me to work one-on-one with the child in my care, tailoring my work to their specific needs. Whether through diapering, meal preparation, skill building activities, or child-led exploration, in all areas I strive to encourage my charge’s growth and development.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Prior to becoming a nanny, my work as a teacher with Bright Horizons at Centerpoint was noted by my nomination as HEART of the Month, a teacher-led recognition of teachers and staff who exemplify Bright Horizons’ principles of honesty, excellence, accountability, respect, and teamwork. In addition to my standard work, I was also made a part of the Master Teacher program, where I collaborated with Bright Horizons teachers from around the region on curriculum development and teacher improvement.
I also worked at Launch Learning as an after-school enrichment teacher for grades K-5, and at Minor Avenue Children’s House as a Montessori multi-classroom teaching assistant.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy art and music, so my activities will often feature songs or the use of art supplies like markers, crayons, or paint. Particularly with younger children, I emphasize “process over product”; my focus is less on having the child make something specific and more on the skills they build while they are making it. I also really love cooking or preparing food with children, and I’ve found it’s a great way to get kids interested in food if they are otherwise picky or difficult eaters.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the key to being a successful nanny is patience. To an adult, many behaviors exhibited by young children may seem annoying or aggravating, but children are still learning how to navigate the world around them. Things that seem self-explanatory to an adult are complex tasks to a child. Being patient with a child as they grow and explore is a helpful skill for a childcare worker, and it is one that I have come to value greatly during my time in the field.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have specific experience with special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being there when my nanny child took their first steps was a moment I will never forget.
