A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Rebekah Smith, I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta GA. I am the second child of five, and raised my three younger siblings from ages 4-14 and 0-10 (I have younger twin brothers). My mother had many debilitating health problems, so I was in charge of running the house, meal prep, and animal care, on top of caring for my younger and older siblings up until I got married and moved out. I currently am happily married and have a 2 1/2 year old son who is the pride and joy of my life. My passion is loving kids, and being their supporter as they grow into the amazing individuals that they are. I believe in the Montisorri method, where independence is key to resilience and creativity. And am flat against spankings of any kind. We do a lot of deep breathing, and emotional regulation in our household, as well as fostering kindness, compassion, and sparking joy in the moments.

Church nurseries, AWANA, Children's ministries, Camp Counseling, and weekday sitting where parents would leave their kids with me (I usually had anywhere from 2-12 kids at a time) while they attended their business. I've cared for infants all the way to teenagers.

I have helped care for some special needs kids, like kids who needed tube feeding, or who were very autistic or nonverbal but not where I was the main caretaker. I also work well with kids who are on the spectrum.
