A little bit about me

My name is Reidyn but everyone calls me Ray for short. I have a pretty big family with my grandma having 12 children which gives me 8 cousins from her kids. Age ranges between 1-14 yrs old. I also work in health care at Sanford Health but prior I worked at Avera ICU. I want to become a travel nurse to experience the world and to help people in need! I am the 2nd oldest out of 4. If someone were to express me with one word, it would probably be "sunshine" which would lead to them calling me "ray of sunshine." That being said they have stated "I bring nothing but joy when coming into an environment and you can just feel it across the room." That had came from one of my patients I had helped when working at Avera ICU. First impressions are big for me because I never want anyone to feel not heard or cared for when they are in my presence.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant. At Avera Mckennan there will be times you would get "floated" to the pediatrics unit, where you help children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am a crafty person that includes art, crafts, etc. I love when the children show me their favorite personal item that can be blankets, a toy, clothing, etc. It shows me that each kid is different in their own way and tells me a little bit about them which I enjoy experiencing!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I would say it being the connections with the children overall. Spending a certain amount of time with someone can build beautiful connections and opens a new person into your life, no matter the age. Time well spent with that said person or child will always have those special memories that at worth more than words can explain at the end of day.

My experience with special needs children...

Working in a hospital there is so many kids with sicknesses, head traumas (TBI patients), disorders, disabilities, etc. I would think I have a good variety of knowledge with special need kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when I was babysitting for my aunt. His name was Anthony and he was battling cancer at that time. HIs favorite thing to do was play video games but mainly "Fortnite". I would go hours, losing track of time just to spend time and play the games that he loved because I knew he enjoyed playing with someone that enjoys his hobbies. We stayed up just a little past bed time enjoying snacks and gaming away that night.
