I have worked with children ever since I was 11. I have babysat my neighbor's kids, Worked with kids at after-school care at the YMCA, Volunteered at church events where I was helping out in the child playroom, and I am currently a preschool teacher during breaks.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy going for walks or going to the pool if it is warm enough. I also love reading to children and trying to encourage them to read. But most of all I love playing games with the kids or coloring with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part of being a nanny is creating lasting connections. There is nothing better than having kids who will listen to you when they need to but also feel comfortable enough to be goofy and have fun.
My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I was a part of a Cadet program where I would spend half of my class schedule for my senior year assisting teachers in classes with kids who have special needs. It was the highlight of my day and I miss the great bonds I made with each kid.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment would be over the summer I got called in on a weekend for my nanny job which I was usually not scheduled for. I, however, picked up and watched the kids over night while the parents were away we played in the pool all day and then came home and watched a movie with popcorn and they cuddled up next to me and fell asleep.
