My name is Riley, I am 24 years old, and I am majoring in psychology at ASU online! My goal is to be a psychiatrist and continue working with children as well as adults who need immediate intervention.
I moved back to AZ in 2023 to help my family through my dad's cancer diagnosis, and my sisters and I are quite close.
I absolutely adore animals and spending time with my friends and family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love being active with the children I nanny for, as it sets our day up for success. Not only does getting out of the house help their mental well-being, but it also allows their bodies to reset. I love creating crafts and activities, such as sensory bottles and science projects, like menthos in a bottle. It seems so small to us, but it is SO exciting for them and they are learning something new. Learning through play is an excellent way for children to grasp new knowledge and naturally form questions. Scavenger hunts with letters and eye-spy with colors are some other activities I love doing with children.
All in all, I enjoy creating opportunities for learning through play with the children I care for.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is flexibility and reliability, showing up on time and showing up for the nanny charge.
By this, I mean regulating your emotions to prepare for the day ahead and ensure the child's well-being. I believe being on time is incredibly important for families who have their own jobs they must get to. It is important to ensure safety, properly communicate with families, and build a trusting relationship with both the child and the parents.

My experience with special needs children...

I have limited special needs experience.
I occasionally babysit for our family friends, and their son is on the autism spectrum.
My previous nanny charge experienced developmental delays and overall challenges similar to special needs. I was with them for 2 years.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when I lived in Indiana and worked for my previous nanny family. The boys at the time were 1 and 3, and they had 2 Australian shepherds.
After some time, they decided to breed their younger shepherd.

Long story short, after a few months, it was 2 grown Australian shepherds, 3 puppies, and 2 kids under 3. Although some days were stressful, I often miss running around with the boys in my arms, being chased by the dogs. Or they LOVED to be pushed in their toy cars and to see 5 dogs and a toddler coming up behind you, with nothing but pure joy and excitement—it's hard not to feel pure happiness.
