Outdoor exploration and creation of the Earth's natural gifts and beauty. I love indoor activities too such as arts and crafts or book reading with wild voices. I can adapt and care for what the moment calls for and I think that is my greatest skill as a teacher and caregiver.
My experience with special needs children...
I have adapted course work and curriculum for over 13 years, meeting each student where they are. I have had students rise to and climb over any bar set with the right supports in place. I believe getting to know the individuals interests, wants, and needs is crucial to providing not only adequate care, but an environment any child can thrive in. I have had non verbal students turn their sketches into stickers and laser cut ornaments.

I love working with kids! I took classes through Pueblo community college studying early childhood education where I went to a local elementary school and worked with the preschool program and hoped to become a teacher. I grew up volunteering as a counselor at a summer camp ranging from ages 5-12. When I started at Fort Lewis, my passion for crime and society was something I wanted to connect with my studies, so I got my degree in Criminology and Justice Studies with minors in prelaw, political science and sociology and human services. I still missed working with kids though! I then became a preschool teacher which was such an amazing , special, and growing experience for me. I was able to intern at the courthouse in the morning and go to such a fun silly encouraging environment in the afternoon!
