My experience with special needs children...
My experience here began at a young age. My best friend growing up had a sister with severe needs and she was my inspiration to get into the world of autism and other special needs support. I was a habilitation/respite provider for an autistic teen while I was in college, spent 2 years as an ABA aide in the classroom with a student, and the bulk of my career has been spent helping students with autism and a variety of other intellectual/learning challenges develop their language and literacy skills. I consider myself an autism professional, and this is perhaps the most rewarding aspect of my career.
