Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve worked with children through both the Boys & Girls Club and CDF Freedom Schools. In those roles, I did much more than just supervise — I helped run the program, planned activities, led groups, handled conflicts, kept everyone on schedule, and made sure the kids were having fun in a safe environment. I’ve worked with kids from elementary age through high school, so I’m comfortable with a lot of different ages and personalities. I also have plenty of hands-on experience helping care for my nieces and nephews
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love anything that gets kids laughing, moving, or being creative! Arts and crafts, baking, board games, outdoor games, movie nights, reading, little competitions, and creative activities are some of my favorites. Since I’ve planned activities for youth programs before, I’m also pretty good at coming up with something fun to do when the “I’m bored” starts. 😂
My experience with special needs children...
I have personal experience caring for my nephew, who is autistic. Being involved in his care has taught me a lot about patience, understanding, communication, and recognizing that every child has their own way of expressing themselves and navigating the world. I’ve learned the importance of routines, paying attention to individual needs, and being flexible depending on what makes him feel most comfortable. That experience has made me even more patient and intentional when caring for children with different needs.
