More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Hello.
I have had a 20 plus year career in Early Childhood Development. Over that span of time I have worked in both private and public facilities working with children Pre-K - grade 12 . For ten years I have run my own in-home daycare and am currently looking to finish my associates degree. I truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child to his/her fullest potential. I look forward to being a part of yours.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that the best way to connect with children is through play. So, you can count on me to plan many age appropriate, hands-on, and engaging activities with your little person/people. Some examples; arts and crafts, cooking activities, outdoor play, dance parties.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I work with children for many reasons, but one of the most enjoyable aspect is watching a child develop and apply something I taught. It is rewarding to know that I helped foster a child's growth and have made a difference in the parent's life as well.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a wide rage of experience with caring for and teaching children with special needs though my time working at St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children and SECEP.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While operating my in-home daycare, I've had quite the time. One memory that stands out to me was when a kid refused to eat his lunch made by his mom because she didn't cut his banana into slices. This happened over the weekend when I wasn't on duty. Mom called me laughing saying that she was dropping him off because he was expecting her to do everything as I did and this was the last straw. It took me talking with the kid to help him understand that not everyone does everything the same and that it is okay to be different sometimes. His response was, "Well, not this time." Mind you the kid was three years old. Mom did agree to slice his banana after we had a laugh and I explained that I did that to prevent mouth stuffing and choking.

Aiyanna W. - Seeking Work in Chesapeake

Live-In Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Chesapeake, VA: Aiyanna W.

My name is Aiyanna Washington, and I'm a 20-year-old nanny relocating to the Chesapeake, VA area starting the second week of September. I'm currently seeking a full-time nanny or babysitting opportunity with a kind and welcoming family in the Chesapeake area.
I have over 5 years of hands-on experience caring for children of all ages, including newborns, toddlers, and school-aged kids. Since February 2026, I've been nannying for a wonderful family in Philadelphia — caring for them has meant so much to me, and while it's bittersweet to leave, our move to Chesapeake means I'll be looking for a new family to care for. Prior to that, I nannied for a family in Roxborough, PA from April 2022 to December 2022, until they relocated out of state. My most favorite age is the newborn/baby phase, however I love teaching toddlers and watching them grow through reading, fun arts and crafts, outdoor exploring, and learning abc's, numbers and colors!
Looking forward to meeting you and your littles!
