More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a head teacher for two child care facilities until they closed down. I opened my own child care in home facility for 6 years called “A helping Hand” which catered to newborn through age five. I also spent time as a receptionist for Albany medical centers pediatric surgery unit in Albany NY. I learned a lot about children's health and other relatable topics to children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I teach Spanish, sign language, English as well if needed. I enjoy arts and crafts with the children. We often go to the plate, Please Touch museum, Smith memorial playhouse, as well as parks. Daily we engage in circle time which includes, songs, dancing, ABC,123, shapes, puzzles and much more. We play with bubbles, write with chalk, paint pictures and enjoy story time.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Most important part besides respecting the child and parents, is to learn. Learn how the child wants to be cared for, learn what makes them happy and what may push their buttons, learn how to speak to them. Learn what is needed from the child care provider in order to provide proper service. You cannot give something you don’t practice. Always learn and keep and open mind at all times.

My experience with special needs children...

I had the pleasure of working with 3 children who have special needs. I was able to study them and learn how to work with them and engage them in activities while not pushing them too far. Understanding their stims and limits. Positive engagement for learning and communicating. Learning how they learn so I can continue to engage with them daily.
