I think the most important thing about being a caregiver is just treating whomever you are caring for just as you would want your loved ones to be cared for and treated.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children who are developmentally delayed (i.e. autism, downs syndrome, etc.) I have also worked with children who have medical issues (i.e. seizures, feeding tube's, cerebral palsy, etc.). I have also worked with children who have aggressive behaviors.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I would have to say that in my years of caregiving, my best moments have just been finding a way to bring out the best in the child. Finding something that they love to do and building a bond and trust.
