The most important thing to me about being a nanny is building not only a relationship with the kids but with the parents as well. Relationships play a huge part in every day life and you never know how much or how big of an impact you can have in the little things you do day to day. I have 2 years of experience with special needs kids. Both previous jobs that I held were aiding for kids with ASD at the high school level, and I was a one on one support for a child with ASD in a self contained class at a general education school
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment as a nanny had to be a couple years back when I was watching 2 boys that I usually took care of when their parents had plans. On this occasion we spent the afternoon until bed time building legos and playing pretend super heroes. While playing their youngest son who was about 5 at the time jumped on my shoulders and told me that I was his bat mobile and that we had to catch the bad guy (his older brother who was 8) in order to tickle him. Even though it's something silly it made me laugh because of how intent he was riding on my shoulders to make sure we caught his brother in the nick of time
