My name is Samantha Haigney and I am 20 years old. I am from Fort Lauderdale, Florida but was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I attend the University of Alabama as a Sophomore majoring in Psychology and minoring in Human Development. My work goal is to become a Children’s Therapist with my own practice. I have always worked well with children and enjoy every second of it. I believe we, the now generation, are responsible for who walks behind us, the next generation. I want to be to able to do everything in my power to give children the building blocks they need for a mentally successful life. I am responsible, fast-responding, great with children, and want nothing more than to give kids a great experience as an addition to their childhood.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout high school, I was always babysitting. I am an only child, so once I got to high school I started working. I always loved being around children, so my mom had some friends who needed assistance with their children. I started out working with children from the ages of three to five. I did that up until my junior year where I started babysitting babies from the ages three months to two years. Towards the end of my senior year, I had taken multiple child development courses towards my college degree that I felt very comfortable working with small babies and young children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some activities I enjoy doing with children are arts and crafts, sports games, coloring, music, board games, educational games, reading, physically beneficial games like hide and seek or tag, cooking, playing dress up, playing with toys, etc… As a child, I grew up being outdoors all the time. It’s something I cherish and try to involve that with any children I interact with. Whether that’s playing with a ball or running around, playing outside is one of my favorite activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important job of being a nanny is making sure the child feels safe. There are so many responsibilities that come with the job of a nanny, but making sure the child feels comfortable around you is what’s most important. As a parent, it’s extremely difficult to leave your child in someone else’s hands. As a nanny, our job is to make sure your child is getting the best care so that so that you don’t have to worry.
