More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a teacher's aide for sixth graders back in my home town in Nevada, and that is where I decided I wanted to become a teacher myself. I also coached younger softball and basketball teams. I worked at a Montessori Preschool taking care of children aged from one year all the way up to 5. I have taught kindergarten, third grade, and I am currently teaching 7th grade. I love every second of it!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love sports of all kinds and especially love just good ole catch with the little ones! I also like to paint, dance, and sometimes even bake with them. Anything that puts a smile on their face, puts one on mine as well. :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is to show the kids that you care about them, what they think, and how they are feeling. You shouldn't be there just to earn a paycheck, but be there because you actually enjoy spending time with them. You should enjoy teaching them and learning from them.
My experience with special needs children...
I do have a sister that is on the spectrum. In the daycare, I also worked with the sweetest little boy who had down syndrome. My sister is older than me, but I have learned things she likes, ways to calm her down, and how to show her love, but I also realize that looks different for every child. So even though I do have a little bit of experience with special needs children, I am always learning and open minded. With being a teacher, I work with special needs children almost everyday.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It was the last day I would get to spend with my little cousin (who I nannied), and as I hugged her goodbye she started crying and said she had to give me something. She gave me a painting that she made for me and showed me the new contact name for me in her phone. It read "Samantha Awesomeness". I LOVE KIDS! So adorable.
