Like I stated in my introduction I have worked as a summer camp counselor and preschool coach at Empire Gymnastics Academy. During the summer I work from 8am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. During the off season I work as a gymnastics coach which involves ages 2-4. As a coach I work towards teaching kids basic gymnastics skills as we have 30 minute classes and 45 minute classes depending on the age of the child.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Considering my current job as a humanist coach I love teaching kids skills I’ve shown my kids at my job. For example tumbling, handstands, and more. I think it’s very important to keep kids active and give them opportunity to exert their energy. In addition to this, I love doing crafts and helping children express their creativity by giving the freedom of choice and encouraging them to engage in whatever the task/craft may be.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Im sure this is everyone’s answer but the most important part about being a nanny to me is making the kids happy. Nothing is more heart warming than knowing a kid feels safe with you and not even that but have love for you. I can say despite being young and not having children of my own it feels good to be needed and l relied upon.
My experience with special needs children...
In one of my gymnastics classes I worked with a child who had autism and was non-verbal. I remember when we first met he barely wanted to stay in class or would throw a fit. Overtime I was able to develop a great relationship without despite him being mon-verbal and learned how to accommodate him to ensure his comfort while also teaching him a gracious about of gymnastic skills.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment I have working with kids is one of my kids leaving after her class but turning back in the door to run and tell me she loved me. It almost brought me to tears it was nice to know I had such an impact.
