A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Sarah McKinney and I have been living in Florida for the past 4 years. I am very passionate about both nannying and baby sitting and have always enjoyed working with children of all ages. I am currently in school for a degree in Early Childhood Education. Outside of childcare, I am active in the Orlando community through performing arts, in both educational and professional settings. However, I have also worked with many special needs children throughout Brevard county in a classroom setting (dance classes, art projects, and volunteer basis daycare). I am a strong believer that not only is it important for a child to feel safe with their nanny or babysitter but that it can also be a great opportunity for them to expand on their growing minds and creative outlets.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for children through volunteer and internship experiences. I have worked with several children ages 3-12 in household and classroom settings for the past 3 years.
I also currently work part time nannying twin boys (2 yrs) and a girl (5 years).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy dancing, karaoke, art projects, video games (wii, x-box, play station), reading, board games, sports (basketball, football, soccer, baseball, tennis), swimming, baking, and playing with animals with children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is encouraging fun as well as good behavior. This includes reinstating the parents goals and needs for their children.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with special needs children/young adults ages (14-20) for the past 4 years at Astronaut High School. I attended their classes with them and did my best to make their day more fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment is when I made ginger bread houses with a couple of the special needs students that I worked with. I had never seen them laugh and smile as much as they did in that moment. They had a blast and so did I.
