More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
- This past October, I ran and managed a two-day music camp for kids around my neighborhood. I connected with the children (ages 4-9) in my community through nature and music creation, improved my communication skills with parents, and developed my lesson-planning skills.
- I am a part of my school's adaptive physical education program, Partners In PE (PPE). In PPE, I gain experience in teaching in the special education field and knowledge and skills that translate into living a healthy life.
- I have two years of volunteering experience at Camp CAMP (Children's Association for Maximum Potential). I've done two summer training sessions and one general camp session. Over the past two years, I've developed my skills working with high-functioning and low-functioning campers, adapting to unforeseen situations, and caregiving for individuals with varying levels of disability. This has improved my communication skills, understanding body language, and understanding behavior.

My experience with special needs children...
- My first session at Camp CAMP was challenging and stressful. My camper, Alexandra, was an older teen who didn't seem interested in listening to me, a 15-year-old. She used several assistive devices, including hearing aids, a phone, an Omnipod, glasses, and a wheelchair, making it overwhelming for my first experience. Despite the challenges, I had many rewarding moments and learned that self-advocacy is necessary to curb stress.
- My second session at Camp, while lots of flexibility was required, went smoother because I'd improved my understanding of behavior and the importance of self-care. I started the week with a pair of highly independent campers and ended it with a camper who needed more support emotionally and physically. Because change can be difficult for people with disabilities, I quickly adapted to this change and ensured that my new camper had the best week possible. Though we had a few challenging moments, I always had resources and people to help and support me.

Full-Time Nanny Available in San Antonio, TX: Katie J.
Hi! My name is Katie, I’m 21 years old, and I’ve been working with kids for over 5 years. I started babysitting when I was 16 and have spent the last 3 years as a full-time nanny. I genuinely love spending time with children—whether it’s playing games, going on little adventures to the park, or helping with homework and learning activities.
I have my own reliable transportation and am happy to help with school pick-ups, errands, or fun outings. I’m also comfortable assisting with tutoring and educational support if needed. I’m responsible, patient, and always aim to create a safe, caring, and fun environment for the kids I care for.
Looking forward to meeting your family!
