I current;y teach SEL at Lafontaine ELC. My students call me the rainbow teacher because of my fun hair! I am also a mother to a 1 and 6 year old.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love teaching emotional skills, art, literacy, and a little Spanish (I am nowhere near fluent but have a basic knowledge of the language and a small vocabulary I like to share with littles). Crafts, imaginative play, music are all things I will do with your kiddos. I also love the outdoors and nature, and like to incorporate that into my teaching and activities.
My experience with special needs children...
My youngest sister has Down syndrome and type one diabetes. So I am trained in that kind of care and have been since I was 12. My grandmother was an occupational therapist and also taught special needs children in high school. I was with her while she worked oftentimes and have experience with many different forms of disability. At Lafontaine I have also had the opportunity to work with children on the spectrum, or suffering learning disorders such as ADHD. I myself have ADHD and with that comes a basic understanding of cognitive therapy and regulating that pesky sensory overload.
