A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Ally I have been working in education primarily in special ed and behavior therapy for almost 12 years. I have worked with a variety of ages and severity of diagnoses in my career. I enjoy all ages but have really loved working in private in home care, it offers a stronger bond between myself and the children that I don't get the time to establish in clinical settings. I love incidental teaching and finding ways to help children grow socially emotionally through naturalistic opportunities. I avoid using screens where possible and love museum trips and excursions to expand their world. If desired I have plenty of programs aimed at education and social emotional learning that I can provide and assist with any schooling. I am open to all questions, I am currently working Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays as a homeschool teacher and behavior therapist and am looking to add Tuesdays and Thursday to the mix!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My experience has ranged from regular education to integrated classrooms to sub separate and separate learning spaces while in public schools.

I have also worked in placement programs for those severe needs.

Early in my career I worked as a pre-K division coordinator and a special education liaison for all ages at the school that ranged from infants to third grade.

I have worked in clinical and in-home care for more than six years of my career providing individualized care for children with various needs as well as support to families.

I partake in about 100 hours of professional development classes independently per year. Ranging from safety education to sensory play programs to emergency care training as well as general from multiple reputable private state and federal programs.

I'm a certified safety care instructor and have implemented it in my career with multiple companies.

Once a month I Recertify my Red Cross and CPR training with local fire departments.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Massachusetts can get unbearably hot and unbelievably cold so sometimes it's just a day to stay inside. I have a rolling crate filled with educational and social emotional programs that feel and act like games as well as plenty of board games. I love using cooking as not only an activity but a Great way to help promote independence.
I love big body play and sensory programs and I have plenty that can be done indoors.

I have memberships to multiple museums around Boston including the children's museum and the aquarium. There are plenty of parks around the city that are easily accessible and offer a variety of ways to play. I also have parking passes at multiple state parks Mount Wachusett that offers easily hike-able trails. I am allergic to chlorine but have a lifeguard certification from my early 20s and I'm happy to take kiddos to beaches or the ocean!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I got one of the reasons I chose to step away from an education or clinical setting is because of the bond that you are able to form not only with the children but with families I love being a part of milestones and seeing that growth I love being a part of their day-to-day lives and providing support where it's necessary being able to celebrate those wins and help them get back up after obstacles. I've been very grateful for the families that I've been able to work with and cherish those memories!

My experience with special needs children...

The majority of my career has been spent with the special education population. I feel a little repetitive on this profile and I apologize I am happy to provide any and all references needed for families to confirm and I'm happy to explain better detail experiences I have!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I just had my kiddos that I've know since they were born go from a homeschool environment to being able to attend a specialized school. Seeing their growth going from being nonverbal to self-sufficient independent and a well integrated part of their peers social circle has been incredibly moving and bittersweet! I would love to be selfish and keep them with me forever I'm happy to see them growing and it's been a really amazing experience to see the milestones they've not only met but exceeded.
