More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Hi! I’m Selah, and caring for children has always been something I find incredibly meaningful. I love being able to create an environment where children feel safe, understood, encouraged, and free to be themselves. My background includes working as a daycare teacher, behavioral therapist, and au pair, giving me experience with children at different ages, personalities, and developmental stages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my favorite things about working with children is learning through play. I love reading books together, singing songs, dancing, doing arts and crafts, playing outside, going on walks, building with blocks, imaginative play, sensory activities, and finding little ways to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. With younger children, I especially enjoy tummy time, reading, singing, practicing developmental skills, and simply being present and engaged with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is trust.
Parents are trusting you with the most important people in their lives, and I don't take that responsibility lightly. A nanny should be someone a child feels safe and comfortable with and someone a parent can depend on.
I believe a great nanny should be patient, dependable, attentive, nurturing, communicative, and consistent. I want children to know that they are cared for, listened to, and respected while still having healthy boundaries and structure.
I also believe communication with parents is extremely important. I want parents to feel comfortable knowing how their child's day went, what they enjoyed, what they learned, and anything I noticed throughout the day.
Ultimately, I want to be more than someone who simply watches the children. I want to be a positive and dependable person in their lives who helps them learn, explore, grow, and feel loved while their parents are away.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite moments aren't necessarily the big milestones—they're the little moments when you can see something click for a child.
I love seeing a child learn something new and then watching their face light up when they realize, “I did it!” Whether it's learning a new word, figuring out how to complete a puzzle, becoming comfortable trying something for the first time, expressing their feelings, or gaining confidence in something they were once hesitant about, those moments are incredibly rewarding to me.
I also believe children teach us just as much as we teach them. Every child has their own personality, interests, communication style, and way of experiencing the world, and I enjoy taking the time to understand what makes each child unique.
