A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Selena, and I have over five years of experience working with children of all ages. I’ve spent multiple summers as a camp counselor for kids ages 2-4 and worked two summers full-time at a day camp where I was responsible for a group of first graders. I also spent a summer working with children on the spectrum, which helped me develop strong patience and adaptability.

During the school year, I work at a Montessori after-school program as the lead first grade counselor, where I organize crafts, science projects, and other engaging activities.

I am CPR and First Aid certified and have a driver’s license, my own car, and drivers ed training. I love creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where kids can learn, explore, and feel comfortable. I’m excited to support families and build meaningful connections with the children I care for!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing creative and engaging activities with children such as arts and crafts, science projects, outdoor play, reading, and educational games. I also like planning activities that encourage curiosity and learning while making sure kids are having fun. With my experience at a Montessori after-school program, I especially enjoy hands-on projects that help children explore their creativity and problem-solving skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where children feel comfortable and cared for. I believe it’s important to build trust with both the children and the parents while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and kindness. A great nanny helps children learn, grow, and have fun while making sure they always feel safe and supported.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was with an 18-month-old girl I was watching. When we first started playing, I wasn’t sure what would make her laugh. At one point I accidentally dropped a ball and said ‘boom!’ and she immediately started giggling. I kept saying ‘boom, boom, boom’ as the ball bounced, and she rolled over laughing. It became our little game, and even now she still thinks ‘boom’ is the funniest thing ever. Moments like that are my favorite because it’s so special to see kids discover joy in the simplest things.

Jack H. - Seeking Work in New York

Babysitter Available in New York, NY: Jack H.

Hi! I'm Jack, based in Manhattan. I recently left my consulting job at EY to co-found a company helping manufacturers fix what's slowing them down — and I'm taking on childcare work alongside building it, because I want a schedule with real presence in it rather than a return to constant travel.

What families get from me: someone genuinely reliable. I show up when I say I will, communicate clearly about how the day went, and stay calm when plans change. I'm comfortable managing routines — meals, homework, pickups, activities — and I'd rather be on the floor building something with a kid than parked next to a screen.

I can get first aid / CPR certified no problem, let me know if its a priority

I'm looking for part time hours, ideally on weekday morning and afternoons. I'll be bartending thursday and friday nights and likely sunday, monday, and tuesday nights as well
