Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
While living in PA, I was a volunteer at an after school program for kindergarten-4th grade! We did homework, had a snack, and kept learning throughout the time. Flash cards, practice problems, reading and much more!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoors, I will adapt to whatever your child enjoys. Painting, playing pretend, playing with toys or even dancing to some music! I love to read with children because I feel it helps their minds develop. Outdoor activities are super fun too! I again would adapt to what your child likes to do! If they like to play with toys, run around, play with a soccer or other types of sport games I would love to do that with your child! If they’d like to play on a swing set I will give them supervision constantly and help when needed!
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part about being a nanny is making sure that kids are keeping the same routine as they would with their parents. I also believe an important aspect is allowing the kids to trust their nanny. Something else is being able to help their minds develop more every day even with simple things. Making the kids happy and kept safe is also very important to me when being a nanny!
My experience with special needs children...
During my time at the after school program we had a few children with special needs. Every child is treated and is the same in my eyes, they just sometimes need some extra care and assistance.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was when I was a group of 3 kids, ages 1, 3 and 5! The 1 year old was put down for the night and I was watching the older siblings for another hour before their bedtime. They both brought me a book and the 5 year old said “Ms.S you always make stories fun! Can you read to us before bed?” As I previously stated I love reading with kids. This brought so much joy because I was able to make reading fun for these kids!
