More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have owned and operated childcare facilities in California, Colorado, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Oregon for ages 6 weeks to 12 years for the last 45 years. I majored in Elementary Ed for 4 years and then took to the field of Early Childhood Education. I have 2 sons and 9 grandchildren. I have lived in Grants Pass for the last 17 years where I operated my own child care facility. Children are the joy of my life and I would love to be able to bless a family and do not look at my work as a job but my life calling. I meet all the requirements to work with children in Oregon.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Depends on the age group, but I like to focus on what the child's learning style is, their basic needs and temperament, and what their interest is. Children learn best with a hands on environment. I believe continuity of care, nurturing, and safety are paramount. I always say to myself if this were my child how would I want him/her to be treated. My favorite part of early childhood programs was curriculum planning.

My experience with special needs children...

Taught a Sunday School class in college for children with special needs and for 45 years have included children with special needs in all of my childcare settings. Patience is the most important thing a teacher can have.
