More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Wee Care in Chesterton Indiana, and Steps of Faith in Sullivan, Indiana.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the pool, baking, crafting, exploring new places together, trying new things. And making sure all the developmental milestones are being met

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important part of being a nanny or working with kids in general is loving them and showing them that you care. Of course they are going to push your buttons and make you feel overwhelmed but we need to remember that they are learning with you and have bad days just like you. They just need extra love and attention. Also be a support system for the parents, and always communicate with them you guys are a team and together you guys can tackle anything

My experience with special needs children...

I don’t have a ton of experience with special needs children. I did work with a few children who were on the spectrum but not severe. I did work with an infant that had terrible acid reflux, colic, and digestive issues.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I will use a story from my experience as a toddler teacher. I have learned that repetition is the key when working with 1-2 year olds. I had asked my director if she could get us some flash cards with pictures of animals, and other things that I could use to help the kids identify those things. She bought me some and every day during circle time we would sing songs, read a story, count to ten, do colors, and go over flash cards. A little boy who had autism was never really a big talker and was always either playing with his shoes or doing something that seemed like he wasn’t paying attention. I held up the flash cards and I kid you not he was the first one to tell me the sound they made and what it was. I was so proud and felt so good that finally all that work was paying off. I also learned that just because it seems they aren’t listening don’t get upset or frustrated because they are listening.

I'm Timothy Nicol.
This opportunity is new to me, but I am very exited to look into the possibilities of caring for children.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Timothy Nicol
