More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Most recently/currently I am a lead Pre-K teacher at Forty Carrots Family Center. Prior to this I worked at Discovery Days Preschool, (a private boutique school), in DT Sarasota for 10 years as the 4’s teacher, then as the lead Pre-K teacher. I have also been an infant teacher and teacher to 3’s at The Goddard School, LWR. I have a degree in Elementary Ed, and previously taught 3rd & 5th grade students prior to my youngest child being born; I began working at the preschool level after she turned one, and have been here ever since! She is graduating from high school this year!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I do enjoy arts & crafts with children, even at the infant level! When teaching at Discovery Days, I held an after school art class one day a week, creating project art: collages using things from nature, decorating a fall pumpkin, painting an African scene with a silhouette collage of animal(s) & foliage, personalized beaded keychains, & Mother’s Day art/Prints.
Cooking with kids is so much fun! I also held an after school cooking class while at Discovery Days! Tying in math and science concepts is important & fun! Items we made in my cooking classes: mini charcuterie snack boxes, decorated pre-made cookies, reindeer cake pops, granola snack mix.
I enjoy taking the kids on “field trips” to local attractions like Jungle Gardens, The Children’s Garden, the bounce establishments, and Mote Marine! Local parks are also on my to-do list, picnics are always fun, and I love to do those at Bayfront Park, as the shaded areas are abundant, and there is an amazing playground and splash park!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Making connections with the children; making them feel safe, loved, and encouraged to try new things!
My experience with special needs children...
I do have limited experience with special needs children. In my most recent years of teaching, I have worked with students who have sensory processing disorder, and have learned the various ways for children to receive the necessary input they seek, or the output they need to exert.
I have worked with a couple of children who are on the Autism spectrum, with one also having ADHD. I am continuing professional development courses to be better equipped for and to better serve this population of children.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was when I introduced a sensory activity to an infant. Seeing her reaction to seeing and touching the materials was such an exciting and uplifting moment! Her eyes got SO wide, and she shook with anticipation as she reached for the materials and touched them! Exposure to different materials, textures, and such is a gateway to learning about their surroundings AND themselves! They (& we!) get find out what they like and dislike in a controlled & safe environment!

Live-In Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Sarasota, FL: Olivia M.
Hi! I’m Olivia, I am 21 and I love kids, I love to cook, and I love taking care of people. I used to teach children’s gymnastics and played soccer in high school so I definitely know how to keep up with active and playful children. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do and it’s one of the main ways I show care for the people around me. I love art and books and I believe nurturing a child’s creativity and interests are so important. I am also teaching myself Spanish and ASL. Healthy and positive communication is very important to me and ensuring children’s safety and happiness are always my number one priority.
