Hi! I'm Shelly, with 30+ years in infant/toddler care and 6 years as a CCISD Pre-K assistant.
I specialize in nurturing, one-on-one newborn and infant care: feeding, diapering, soothing, sleep routines, and developmental support. I plan activities with books, songs, sensory play, and tummy time to encourage language, cognitive, and motor skills.
I support breastfeeding families, handle expressed breast milk, and follow parents' feeding routines. Available for daytime and overnight care.
I hold an Infant/Toddler CDA and TEA Educator's Aide certification. Adult/Pediatric CPR & First Aid and Food Handler certifications are current.
Full- or part-time. Daytime: $18/hour; overnight rates discussed individually.
Child-focused care: child's laundry and dishes used by the child and me; no housekeeping.
Dog lover; basic dog care included. Due to a cat allergy, I cannot work in homes with cats.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have over 30 years of experience caring for infants and toddlers, along with 6 years as a Pre-K assistant teacher in public education. My experience includes supporting children's daily routines, developmental milestones, early learning, and individualized care. I've also worked in a private Christian preschool as a Reading Resource and Literacy Teacher, where I established a classroom library, developed literacy activities, led storytime, and encouraged a love of reading. These experiences have strengthened my skills in child development, lesson planning, and creating nurturing, engaging learning environments.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love incorporating reading, storytime, music, nursery rhymes, singing, sensory exploration, and age-appropriate play into children's daily routines. With infants, I enjoy tummy time, interactive books, peekaboo, songs, sensory activities, and experiences that encourage early language, motor skills, and cognitive development. As children grow, I enjoy introducing simple art projects, fine motor activities, imaginative play, and early literacy experiences. I believe learning begins at birth, and everyday moments are wonderful opportunities to encourage curiosity, discovery, and development. I especially enjoy planning activities around each child's age, interests, and developmental milestones.

The most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to grow. I believe building trust with both the child and their parents is essential. A nanny is not simply there to supervise, but to be an attentive, dependable caregiver who supports each child's emotional, physical, and developmental needs. I believe in being fully present, communicating openly with parents, respecting family routines, and making every day an opportunity for learning, discovery, and meaningful connection.

My experience in this area is limited. My primary focus and area of experience is providing one-on-one infant and toddler care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite nanny moments are watching little ones reach developmental milestones and discover something new for the first time. Whether it's hearing a baby's first sounds, seeing them master a new skill, sharing a favorite book, or watching their little personality emerge, those moments are incredibly rewarding. I especially love building a bond with the children I care for and becoming someone they feel safe, comfortable, and loved with. After more than 30 years in childcare, it's still the everyday moments, the hugs, smiles, laughter, and milestones that make this work so special to me.
