Being able to be a support system for the family you are invited into is one of the most valuable aspects. I always want to create a space for open communication and understanding so that we are always on the same page about what is best and most valued on a week to week basis.

My experience with special needs children...
I was with a nanny family for around 3 years for a child with Autism and also worked in an ABA setting as a registered behavior technician.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have quite a few nanny moments! My favorites were when we did something I came up with called “Fun Friday’s”. This is a day where I would take the child out for ice cream, go to the children’s museum, ice skating, ect. Always with permission for the parents ahead of time.
There are many memories I hold from that. Being able to enjoy time out and have a new and exciting experience/adventure was something I always loved and still love doing with my own child to this day!
