More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked in many child care scenarios, including daycares, babysitting, and being a student teacher for middle school english and social studies! I adore all stages of a child's development and am comfortable with all of them. If i ever feel out of place, I work even harder to gain the knowledge and confidence I need too.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am very into spending time outdoors and interacting with nature and the community around us. I love going on easy walks where we can focus more on the environment and discovering the small things that surrond us. Getting the wiggles out is also always helpful and I find calming the body with simple yoga stretches or running around a jungle gym helps with that. "Field trips" to museums, aquariums, and zoo's are places I also find fun and educational with the right age groups. As far as indoor activities go I'm fond of playing pretend, setting pillow forts for "sleep overs", arts and crafts appropriate for the child's age group, and spending quality time eating meals together and working on homework together if applicable. I enjoy spending time bonding with children in these situations so they feel comfortable and safe while in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important (and my favorite) part of being a nanny is creating a bond with the children. I want every child I work with to feel like they can trust me and rely on me. Children are very special creatures who are growing and developing and I believe the succeed at these things best when they are being nurtured in a way that reinforces healthy behaviors. Every parent wants to be proud of their children, and it's important for a Nanny to be in live with the parents ideals of what that means. Trust, compassion, and empathy are what matter most to me.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children is somewhat limited. I studied psychology during University, and have taken a glass on the psychology of exceptional children and have a theoretical idea of how best to work with a wide range of mental, physical, and developmental needs. My younger brother, who I spent a lot of his childhood taking care of him, is autistic and I have come to find what works best for his needs. I think the most important thing to know when working with children with special needs is understanding that every child is different and you cannot use a a blanket knowledge to work with them, you must get to know them on a individual level and create personalized care for them and their needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite way to play with my daycare children was during dance/wiggle time I would go through a very simple yoga flow. They adored it, and smiled and giggled the whole way through. I believe this helped the children find a productive and focused way to use and focus their energy so that they could release it in a helpful manner. My favorite part of it all is that they were way more relaxed and patient (and quiet haha) during reading time, as if have a focused, creative outlet for their energy really helped them "get their wiggles out."
