A little bit about me

My name is Skyleen and I’m a nurturing and a fun-loving person. I’ve been dancing since I was 3 and even majored in it in high school. After graduation, I worked as a dance teacher, where I had the privilege of teaching students of all ages, including children with disabilities, ranging from ages 3- 15. This experience has not only deepened my passion for working with children but also strengthened my ability to connect with kids in a meaningful way.

Being an older sister to my younger brother, who I’m 6 years older than, has taught me a lot about responsibility and care. I’ve also spent time babysitting my younger cousins, who are between 10-20 years younger than me, and I’ve loved every moment of it!

I am currently a nursing student, which has deepened my passion for helping others. I’m looking for a part-time nanny position where I can bring my energy, and nurturing spirit to your family. I believe in creating a warm and engaging environment where children can thrive and have fun.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have relevant experience caring for children, including looking after my younger brother and cousins, which has strengthened my nurturing instincts as I've always felt like a natural care taker.

Additionally, I worked as a dance teacher, where I taught students of all ages, from beginners to intermediates. This role allowed me to showcase my ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.

In my classes, I focused on making class fun and accessible. I often had to think creatively to keep younger students engaged, using imaginative analogies to explain dance techniques. This not only helped them grasp complex concepts but also made learning enjoyable. I also taught them routines, fostering their sense of accomplishment and confidence as they mastered each step.

My experience as a dance teacher has equipped me with the skills to connect with children, understand their unique learning styles, and encourage their growth in a positive way.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As an avid reader, I believe that reading is fundamental to a child's development. I love to read to children, as it offers countless benefits, including expanding their vocabulary and boosting their imagination. I enjoy selecting engaging stories that spark curiosity and encourage discussion, making reading a fun and interactive experience. Additionally, I like to incorporate related activities, such as storytelling or creative play, to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of the stories we explore together.

Since I'm passionate about music and movement, incorporating games and activities, that involve coordination allows me to reinforce what they’re learning in a fun way. Engaging in creative arts with children encourages their creativity and helps develop fine motor skills. I also love outdoor play, whether it's playing games in the park or going on nature walks, I believe that fresh air and physical activity are essential for a child’s well-being.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is recognizing the significant role you play in a child’s life. Children are incredibly impressionable, and I understand that every interaction can shape their self-esteem, understanding of the world, and emotional well-being.

I believe in the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." As a nanny, I’m not just looking for a paycheck; I’m seeking genuine connection with both the child and the family. Building that relationship allows me to contribute positively to their development and support their growth in a meaningful way.

It’s about being a trusted presence in their lives, providing encouragement, guidance, and love as they navigate their experiences. Knowing that I can help foster their confidence and curiosity is what drives my passion for this role.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs includes working as a dance teacher, where I had the privilege of teaching students with varying abilities, including those with disabilities. This role taught me the importance of patience, creativity, and adaptability. I learned to modify my teaching techniques to meet individual needs, ensuring that every child could participate and feel included.

I developed engaging activities that allowed these students to express themselves and build confidence in a supportive environment. This experience has deepened my understanding of the unique challenges and strengths that each child possesses, and it has reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate and effective care for all children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite aspects of being a nanny is hearing the stories kids share after school. I’ve found that many children feel comfortable venting to me about their day, and it’s in those moments that I’ve realized how important it is for them to feel seen and heard.

Validating their experiences—whether they’re excited about a new friend, frustrated about a tough day, or proud of an accomplishment—helps them process their emotions. I strive to create a safe space where they can express themselves freely. By encouraging them and speaking life into their narratives, I help boost their confidence and resilience.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see how these interactions not only support their emotional well-being but also foster a deeper bond between us. Knowing that I can play a role in helping them navigate their feelings and experiences is a truly fulfilling part of my role.
